Easter is WHEN??????

I had such a shock yesterday. I hadn't realised Easter was so soon. There I was, happily meandering along when I thought to myself I'd better check to see when Easter actually was. The shock of it! I thought I had at least two weeks.
I have loads to do, but thankfully most of it can be/has been done online. Which is what I've been doing this morning. More of that later.

I recently showed you the mirror in the bedroom, and how I revamped it. [click here, if you missed that particular post]. Well, I have changed it slightly since then. Not much, just enough to improve it - in my eyes.
I was thinking last night, and remembered a wedding tiara that I had bought a l-o-n-g time ago. I made up my mind to dig it out and have it somewhere, then my eyes feel upon the mirror and I knew that was where the tiara was destined to live. I flattened the side parts carefully, and fixed to sit on top of the frame in the bedroom. Nestling with the paper roses I have on there (decided to use the flower lights elsewhere), I think it has just a hint of the French antique mirrors that I love so much. Again I must ask you to ignore the walls, as this room is soon to be painted and wallpapered.
This photo shows the flattened tiara clearly. I really like this idea, it makes use of something beautiful that otherwise would never be seen. I never used it, it's just one of those things that you seem to pick up as you go through life. :O)

Back to Easter. Has anyone else been happily thinking it was weeks away, or is it just me?!
Part of my panic was because other than the [Fabric Eggs] that I thankfully made back in January (and must cut some twigs for), I haven't made anything. So, I'm working on something that I hope will be quick and turn out 'ok'. If I'd realised the closeness of Easter I'd have started them earlier.

I blew up two balloons to make as close to an egg shape as I could, then started covering them in newspaper. I like to use the Financial Times for this kind of task for no other reason than I like the colour. I've used the FT for a Christmas project too, which I will show after Easter. I've given the 'eggs' several layers of newspaper, and have just finished covering them with tissue paper. {*Mums* this is a lovely thing for little ones to do, but start them off. Do a few layers and let them dry first, then get the children to finish them off with an extra layer and some tissue paper. It will shorten the overall time and get them to the fun decorating part quicker.}
When they are totally dry I will cut them in half and paint. I want them to look like vintage paper eggs (as much as you can when you are trying to do it so quickly!) so I've made some net frill to go around the outside. This was so easy to do, and would also make pretty Christmas garland decorations. Just fold a length of net in half lengthways, then machine a running stitch down the centre, gathering up into folds as you go. Trim the sides to the width you want afterwards. Takes just a few minutes to do.

Once the paint is dry, I will use paper flowers and/or rub on transfers of violets and roses. I will show a photo once they are complete. They won't be terribly good as it's such a rush job, but at least I can give Mother In Law something homemade when she stays.

I have been busy online making orders for our Easter table. As long as everything arrives promptly and there are no breakages, the centre piece for the table has been taken care of. Photos to follow! We are going to treat ourselves to the Cath Kidston cutlery, but I am very doubtful that it will make it here in time to be used on Easter Day.
Once the fake vintage homemade eggs are ready, I will fill them with shredded paper and mini choccy eggs. I searched for the 'right' sort (I was looking for the correct wrapping!),and have ordered a couple of bags of these. The choccy eggs are available from [Chocolate Trading Co].While I'm talking about fabulous websites, this morning my catalogue for Country Cream arrived. I'd forgotten I had ordered it. If you like shabby chic or French antique or a dash of country in your home, then do take a look around the website, but be warned, it will end up costing you money! [Country Cream]

All in all, considering how much of a shock I had yesterday, I think I've done pretty well to get things sorted out for Easter so quickly. Now all I need to do is think of something Spring like, easy and yummy to cook for lunch. Salmon, lamb, chicken? Any ideas??
