Frilly eggs

I managed to finish my vaguely vintage style eggs. They are far from perfect, but I enjoyed making them and particularly decorating them.
I kept it simple by doing nothing more exciting than painting each egg (which left a rather lovely crackly effect. Total accident, but a happy one), then glued on lace and ribbons and topped with paper roses. To hold them steady, on the base I glued on 4 round pearl sewing buttons, they act like little feet. The mini eggies that I ordered earlier in the week arrived today, so they have been placed inside. Although it's been a rush to get these made, I'm glad I left it so late. They are a bit thin in places, because they really needed several more layers of paper to build them up, but I think the fragile nature of them makes them feel old and much used. They feel delicate and look like I made them years ago.

Dom of Rosesposes I've visited your site a few times but have been unable to leave a comment. I don't know why, Blogger just refuses to let me and says I don't have permission to comment! Just wanted to let you know I've been stopping by. :O)
