Egg, flowers, and a new rose

I made another of the little egg 'vases' this morning. I didn't have any more plain white egg cups to use, so I improvised and borrowed one of the tiny teacups from my little girls dollies tea set. I took a photo so you could see how sweet it looked. See the post from yesterday to follow the link back to Martha Stewart's website, which is where the idea originated.

Remember I told you that every so often I go through my old stash of Country Living, remove any pages that I want to keep so I can recycle them? Well, I found some truly beautiful pages in a drawer yesterday. One was dated from Spring 2005, and I thought what a shame to hang on to pages and do nothing with them. I spied the picture frame on the kitchen wall (the kitchen is soon to be painted pink, so ignore the red), decided to paint the black frame cream, scuff it up, and to place the pictures inside. I used white velvet ribbon as a dividing line, to hide the edges of the pages. It's nice to finally see the pictures, instead of finding them in a drawer when rummaging around for something else.

I had another creative idea in the wee hours of this morning, to rework my velvet rose brooches. Making the flower less structured and to incorporate old unwanted jewellery, which is something I am really enjoying doing at the moment. Those of you who own one of my rose brooches will know that each petal is wired. This one is totally unwired, which I really like. It made it much quicker to make, and I love how natural the petals look. It looks more like the roses I have growing in my garden.
I won't always make my roses this way, only when I have jewellery I want to use in the centre, but I love experimenting with my roses, to see which look I like best. I think this is currently my favourite for no other reason than it marries up three things that I love: roses, velvet, sparkly jewellery.
