pretty ice

Something I really like about Pinterest is that it makes me remember things I've done in the past and pretty much forgotten about.
Like freezing flowers in ice for example.
Years ago I used to make ice bowls and keep them in the freezer, ready for whenever I wanted to use one. They were a bit of a faff to make in all honesty. If you have no idea what I'm on about, then you can watch a 'how to' video [here].
When I saw (and pinned) a photo of a bottle resting on a bed of flower frozen ice cubes, I thought it was a detail I could use for The Girls birthday party plans.

I've made a start. I'm using edible flowers and herbs. My plan is to use them in a large bucket for cold drinks, rather than floating them in drinks.
I used boiled water that's been left to cool, it's meant to make the ice clearer. Not sure that it does, but I'm doing it anyway.
I never use those 'normal' solid ice cube trays. Mine is an Annabel Karmel food cube tray that I bought way back when The Girl was weaning. I never liked the idea of freezing food, so I never used them as they were intended. They've always been my ice cube trays, making nice big cubes, and easy to get out.
They just look so pretty. And it's such an easy to do thing.
