the chandelier in the garden

In the previous post I showed the beginning of my Gazebo Chandelier. I hadn't got very far with it.
I also said that I had no intention of buying anything for it, and wanted to make it using whatever I could find in the garage.

Well that sort of happened. Most of it has been created using what I had kicking around the house and garage. But. When I went out on Saturday, I thought I'd take a peek around the lighting department of a shop, and if they had a chandelier lampshade for less than £10, and I thought it would be useful, then I'd buy it to use.

They did, so I did.

I could not resist these blue sparkly plastic crystals. And for £9 it was meant to be.
We were out most of Saturday, but on Sunday I sat down and worked on the chandelier.
I was planning on making it quite extravagent, but in the end I didn't. Ok, I admit, I got bored and was fed up of my nails getting scratched!
But I like how it turned out. I finished off with a garland of pink paper roses to add more colour, and to help hold the fairy lights in place. Not easy to see the lights in the pics I know, but they are there.
Rain was threatening, so I had to cut my photo shoot short. I loved seeing the chandelier hanging in the tree, and as I hang something in the tree each year to make a [tree chandelier], I'm plotting on keeping this in the tree all summer, as well as using it in the gazebo.

I didn't use all the blue sparkles, so I'll show what I've done with the leftover ones at a later date.

I am really pleased that I can cross this off my list now, and forget about it.
It's hanging up in the rafters of the garage roof, beside the tissue paper poms I already have. Which is quite handy, meant I got to see how it would look nestling amongst tissue paper poms, and helps to bring the ideas in my head to life!
