no fuss Valentine wreath

Yes indeedy, another idea gleaned from Pinterest! This was my Thursday project. If you want to see the original, click on either the link at the foot of this post, or visit my Pinterest and the 'Good Ideas' board.

When I saw the photo of this Valentine wreath I just KNEW that I would make it. This year, I am very into simple ideas, simple to do projects. Even better if I can use things I have around the house or in the garage.

The unfussy look to this wreath appealed to me.
There were no 'to do' instructions, but making a wreath - any size or shape - is pretty straightforward.

The heart was obviously made from a coat hanger. No cutting needed, just bend and stretch to make a rough heart shape. Don't worry about the lumpy-bumpy-ness from the corners of the hanger, it makes no difference to the end result. Choose your foliage. I chose Box, swiped from the box hedge in the front garden.
In the original, the hook of the hanger was left as it was, but I preferred to close the open hook with pliers, so it was more of a loop at the top.
Ideally, florists' wire on the reel would be the tool for the job, but I've run out. Instead I used picture wire, carefully untwisting it first, so I could the use strands individually, or three at a time.

Take a small bunch of foliage, then wind the wire around it to attach it to the hanger.
Picture wire is a good alternative if that's all you have, but it's not as good as florists' wire. So, I had to use florists tape every few inches, to give a bit of grip and stop the foliage from slipping around. Florists' tape (and wire) is available from garden centres and the internet. It's self sealing, as you twist it with your hands it sticks. Nothing tricky.
Work around the wreath base in the same direction, carrying on until you reach the point that you started.

If you have any obvious gaps, push in more foliage.
I finished mine with a pale pink velvet bow. Normally I'd have added flowers, but this wreath doesn't need any. It is what it is.
Uncomplicated.
Pretty.

Simple as that!

And there it is. On my front door in celebration of Valentine's Day.
I wonder if the husband will notice the gappy bits of the box hedge?!
