pumpkin making

It's the time of year when I get struck by the notion of making pumpkins.

Last year it was [Paper Pumpkins].

The year before it was [Glittery Pumpkins], I painted a butternut squash with white paint that year too.

This year it's fabric.

I was struck with the idea yesterday. I used faux suede fabric leftover from making my [Inspiration board].
I cut rugby ball shapes, placed them right side in, and stitched together. Then I turned them the right way out, filled with padding, and hand stitched to close.

This year I want a 'White Autumn', colour to be kept to a minimum, so I ignored the stash of green velvet and opted for gold to use for leaves, stalks and tendrils. I've made three. And now I'm not even sure that I like them!

It seemed like such a good way to make everlasting pumpkins. Even though I know my little girl is going to love them when she sees them, I'm not so sure I want to see them around the house as Autumn decoration! They don't look very pumpkin shaped to me. No. It's back to the glitter and paint.
Sometimes you have to make something to find out you don't like it! We do after all, learn from our mistakes.
Still, at least I had fun making them. And when I get an idea in my head I just HAVE to try it out.
