Summer is rushing by, and we are keeping busy.
We've been making small changes to the house. 2012 is the year we became obsessed with lighting. All outdoor lights have been replaced, and we added an extra two. This brings the total of lights to 6, which sounds a lot, but two are security lights.
Finally got rid of the old shades in the living room and replaced them with small chandelier style shades.

My pride and joy is the new kitchen light. We have been without a main light in the kitchen since around this time last year. It hasn't been impossible to live with, but it has been annoying. When the husband suggested we find a new light, I knew EXACTLY what I wanted. I know when my Mum comes round and sees it she's going too screech that it 'isn't a kitchen light'. But it is to me, and I love it.

Makes me smile each time I walk in there. I'm looking forward so much to the grey rainy days, and the nights drawing in, so I can use it more.
Rugs have been taken outside and cleaned.

Flowers have been arranged.

A new cup and saucer acquired (didn't need it but couldn't resist).

The oilcloth fabric has gone from the kitchen table. I managed to burn, cut, rip and leave lumps of glue on it. It was time to go. I love how such tiny alterations can give a room an entirely different feel. It had been on there since January, it was strange - but nice - to see the table bare again.

Cake has been eaten.

We've eaten out .. a lot!

We've played in parks.

Fed the ducks.

And dunked feet in paddling pools.

Yes, it's safe to say that a lot is going on here this summer.
