pink paper ruffly heart

It's taken me three attempts, but I got there in the end!
I have a love of pom poms and honeycomb paper decorations. I happily pay for them, but every now and then I have a go at making them myself. The ones I made early last year were a little on the spiky side for my liking.Just before Christmas I found out how to make the pom poms that I like, thanks to Martha Stewart. This was my first attempt. This week I wanted to try and make one in more of a heart shape, rather than a big ball shape.
I tried several (ridiculously tricky) ways, until I worked out the simple and most obvious way to do it.

Start in the normal way ...
('how to' photos are from [Martha Stewart], click on the link to visit) When they pom is poofed out, get the scissors and cut a dent in the top, where the string is. Being careful not to cut through the string. Just snip away until there is an obvious dent, and then scrunch the paper into shape. It helps if you've used lots of layers of tissue, it works better when the paper is tightly packed, and kept them fairly short. This helps keep it compact looking, and the heart more obvious.
It's not perfect, but I think it's more heart shaped than ball shaped. My little lady will be rather pleased to see this hanging up when she gets home. I'm planning on making a few more over the weekend.

The Girl has already had her Valentine's pressie. Last week when I was looking around the childrens clothes, I spotted this pink bag. I thought it was the perfect bag to give to a little girl for Valentine's Day. Just £5 from Primark, bargain! She was delighted with it. Today we have trudged through the icy snow with a a bag stuffed full of goody bags for The girl to give to her classmates. It's half term next week, so they won't actually be there on Valentine's Day! There isn't much in each bag, but everything in there screams 'Valentine's Day'! Have a lovely weekend.
