Happy Valentine's Day

Hope you are all spoilt with flowers, chocolates, and anything else your heart desires.

In this house, we all had our pressies early. I tell the husband not to buy me flowers as I dislike the inflated prices, and I prefer pink or white roses to red anyway.

Instead we all chose something that we actually wanted. A much better idea! We'll go out for a family meal on Saturday, when the restaurants aren't full of nervous looking men, and women wondering if they'll be presented with a little Tiffany box!

I'm so pleased it's half term. It means I get to spend the day with my Little Love - my beautiful girl. It's our tradition that we make and eat heart shaped food, which is easier than you may think. Just get out a cookie cutter and stamp out whatever it is you're eating!

Our Valentine's is a mix of shop bought and home made. I don't go overboard with decorations, but I like to see some. I've already made my own bunting and [pink paper ruffly hearts], but in Sainsbury's on Saturday I spotted some bunting for just £3. Had to buy it. The front door has been decorated with the rose heart wreath that I made last year. We went to The Range for a few bits and pieces, and came out with a small glut of fabric. The pink organza is probably going to be used in the craft room. Ideas for the craft room are shaping up nicely, and I'm hoping we can make a start very soon.

When my little lady saw the cream fake fur, she asked me if I'd make her another blanket! When she was a baby, a very good freind of mine in America sent her a pink [Blankee] She loves it, and after 5 years of love, snuggles, and a million washes, it has faded and is just a little bit battered looking.

I am not a blanket maker. Nope. Not something I can do, not something I want to do. But, if my little girl asks me to do something, then I'll jolly well give it a try. And I thought it would be a good idea for an extra Valentine's pressie.
I thought about it a lot on Saturday night, and worked out in my head how to go about things.
After much moaning, stupid mistakes, realisation that my sewing wasn't only slightly wonky but totally round the bend, and wondering why I have such an intense dislike for measuring things, I had a finished blanket. (Perhaps if I took my time and got out the tape measure, things would turn out better. But I just can't do it. I cannot be faffed to measure things out properly, I just cut and go!)
I ended up with something that from a distance, and if you squint, doesn't look too bad. It is far from perfect. I will blush to my toes if anyone looks at it closely - it really is embarrasing in places. I know that many of you creative people out there would have done a much better job.
But I gave it a go. And The Girl was thrilled to bits with it.
While it may not be made with a lot of talent, it was made with a lot of love.
