time .. where does it go?

I know I've said it before, but I have to say it again. Sometimes it feels as if someone has pressed Fast Forward on the time. Not only do the days seem to be flying by, but the months are too. It's hard to believe it's July already.

With Gorgeous Girl at school, time seems to whizz by at treble speed. In the afternoon I have to constantly watch the clock to make sure I'm out of the house and down at the school in time for her coming out. It never ceases to amaze me how soon I need to leave, and even though I know to expect it, I usually end up running out of the door in a slight panic.

This week I have had the pleasure of her company for two extra days. On Monday she was a little poorly, so I kept her home. Just as well, it was scorching hot, and I was able to make sure she drank plenty of liquid. On Thursday most of the teachers were on strike, so she had the day off. I was as delighted as she was about having the extra day off! The week has been pretty uneventful, though I did intend to blog here a couple of times. I just didn't get around to doing so.

So what has happened here at Cotton Rose House? Here are some of the edited highlights.

The sunflowers have grown and grown and are now flowering. Finding a red one was an unexpected surprise. On Tuesday the rain fell. Actually it was stormy, and I had to dodge lightning on my way to pick up the girl from school. One night I looked outside and saw this chap staring back at me, enjoying Gorgeous Girls little bench. Dudley was not so happy when he spotted the cat looking so comfy in HIS garden. Despite scribbling 'KITCHEN SHELVES' on my 'to do' list each day, I STILL haven't done anything with them. Normally I have a seasonal vignette of some kind, or flowers, or shoes under a cloche - something. But lately my inspiration has dried up and I just can't think of what to do. They are screaming out for something pretty, instead of being a dumping ground for sunglasses and post. It's looked like that for the past couple of weeks, so one of the Things I Must Do this week is sort it out.

With Friday being the start of a new month, I decided to leave the last few pages of my two and a half year diary empty, and start a new one. There was also the school summer fair this week. My little Sweetpea was so excited about it. The sky was somewhat dubious as you can see from the photo taken in the garden, but rain held off and the sun peeped out from the cloud. Yesterday I had a glut of new books. The 'Gifts from the Kitchen' is absolutely superb. I read it cover to cover when Girly Girl went to a party. The husband and I sat having a drink waiting for the party to finish, a very civilised way of spending the afternoon! The little Lady needed new shoes, so we made a quick stop to the shoe shop too. Yet again I have shoe envy, I'd love a pair of these. How has your week been? I hope it was a good one.
