fairy lights and lamps
There are two things that up until this year, I always thought I disliked. Solar lights and LED lights. I found both too bright and just didn't like them.
Then I realised that if you hunted down 'warm white' LED lights they were more the colour of traditional fairy lights, instead of the harsh blue/white that I wasn't fond of.
And then I found that you can buy warm white LED solar lights for the garden. And that was it. Converted.
I bought some for the Fairy Tower (apologies for rubbish night time photos, but it stays light until pretty late, which means by the time I get my camera to take photos I've turned into a half asleep zombie).
I forget that the lights will switch themselves on, and when I look out at night always get a little shock. The lights are under the roof in the Fairy Tower, so unless you're up close enough to see them, all you can see is a little glow. It's quite eery. Like someone is making themselves at home.
I bought some more, this time for over the bench in the back garden.
Honestly, they are great. No batteries, no plugging them in, just leave them switched on and let the daylight do the rest.
I buy my fairy lights (solar, battery and normal plug in) from [Lights 4 Fun]. They have an excellent selection at reasonable prices, delivery is very speedy too. I'm planning on buying a lot more outdoor lights for this Christmas from them.
Inspired by the fairy lights, the husband decided to buy a solar powered lamp to go on the garage wall, by the garden gate. It looks rather sweet and does the job well.
The glow of the light lasts until just after 3 in the morning.
See? Totally converted!
