Yesterday I left a cryptic ending to my post. Hinting of a little project I had up my sleeve, while not saying much about it.

This morning we trotted off to the local DIY shop, and bought something that I've been droning on about for weeks now, ever since I first spotted it.

Behold the Fairy Tower. Ok, it doesn't look like a Fairy Tower in this photo, taken this morning at the shop. They've decorated in a very boyish Pirate manner (and they call it 'the lookout', all very blokey). Hmm. Suffice to say, it will not look like this once I've finished with it! I cannot wait to decorate it in a girly way.

I have been talking about this little tower for WEEKS now. I have a bit of a thing for children having their own little dens in the garden. When I was little I used to spend hours in the garden during summer holidays building dens out of bits of wood with my younger brother. Or hiding on the allotments behind my parents home, cutting back bushes and twigs to make a brilliant secret den (and then go scrumping when it got a bit darker, but we won't go in to that now!). I really do believe that children need spaces outside where they can get away from their mums and dads, feel hidden away, but be safe, and close to home.
Gorgeous Girl already has Gingerbread House in the garden, but there is always room for something else!
It will be the perfect place to sit and read and relax in the middle of summer. It's going to go at the bottom of the garden, so it will be in the shade, and I plan for roses and ivy to grow up it. I'll be ordering fairy lights to place on the inside ceiling soon. I see it as place for Gorgeous Girl to love for many years to come, where she can sit and do her homework, or escape from her mum and dad, or have friends round and chat far enough away from the house so we can't hear what they say. In autumn and winter it will be lovely to sit inside with a cup of hot tea, and grab a few moments of peace.

It is absolutely perfect. It's like a treehouse without the need for a tree. I have Plans Galore to give it a very girly and shabby chic look, and I'm looking forward to showing photos once it's done. It won't be delivered here until the week of the Royal Wedding, when the husband has time off. I'm just glad to have got it bought and paid for,and with an extra 20% off too!
I'm so fortunate to have married a man who shares the same vision as me. He may have not agreed to buy it straightaway, but he knew it would be a fabulous addition to the garden. Just as well he decided to wait for a while before we bought it, as a 20% discount is not to be sniffed at. Every little helps these days.

After making our purchase, we toodled off to town for lunch, where a certain someone snaffled a choccy sundae and enjoyed every single minute.

Talking of the Royal Wedding, I love how wedding crazy everyone is going. Our loaves of bread now has union jack* packaging , and I couldn't resist buying this 'Kate & Wills' pie for the husband to try (I admit, I'm a romantic at heart and just adored the packaging!) Our flag is everywhere, and I love it! I even loved seeing some of the garden gnomes for sale at the DIY shop this morning, how cute are they?!
* I know, it's 'Union Flag' rather than 'Union Jack', but 'Union Jack' is how I've grown up knowing our national flag, and Union Jack it stays!
