Weather wise, it's been glorious this week. Still nice and chilly - just the way I like it - but with enough sunshine to make if very pleasant spending time outdoors.
The flowers have been happy to bask in the sunshine.
It's taken a few weeks, but at long last Gorgeous Girl and I managed to get some seeds sown for the veggie patch. I wanted to make some little labels to push in the soil. For some reason I really dislike those little white plastic labels that you can write on. I don't know what I've got against them, as they do the job perfectly well, but every year I think of new ways to label my pots of seeds.
This year, I have used chalkboard. I've made a few small chalkboards to use around the house, so I still had some left over.
The cheap chalkboards that cost about a pound or so are ideal. They are thin enough to cut with scissors, but if you had time and a sharp stanley knife, that would probably be much better. Here are my labels.
The chalkboard is made up of some kind of fibre board, so over time they would rot and go mouldy.
But short term, they are perfect. And it's always fun to write in chalk. The trays of seeds are in my 'greenhouse' - the windowsill of the pink bedroom. It gets plenty of sun (well, when it shines), so I'm expecting to see some tiny green shoots soon.
The potatoes (just seen on the left of the photo) are doing well. We really need to get a few more trays of seeds started at the weekend, I wants lots of homegrown goodies this year.
Have a fabulous weekend. I'll sign off with this photo of stocks and hyacinths. The stocks are shop bought, but the hyacinths are from the garden.
