In January 2009, I made myself a [peg bag]. It was a rainy Thursday. It was a strange thing to do when it so obviously wasn't going to use it immediately, but I wanted to make it anyway.
Today has been a rainy Thursday, and what have I made? A new peg bag! The hanger in the old one broke, and I couldn't get another exactly the same to replace it.
The book I talked about yesterday had another picture that I was drawn to over and over. The one on the left <- They have used a childs dungaree dress, and done nothing more than stitched it across the bottom and hung from a wire coathanger.
I knew that I had a purple dungaree dress that my little girl had worn. It has been in my 'pile of stuff to use for projects', but I haven't been able to cut it up. This was the perfect way of using it.
I stitched the straps in place, then machined along the hem a couple of times, added a hanger, and that was it. Job done! If the hanger breaks this time it's very simple to change it for a new one.
This little dress is size 0-3 months. I remember buying it, and remember that my little sweetpea only wore it once. She outgrew it so quickly. I'm so pleased to have found a way of being able to see it again.
I keep my peg bag inside Gingerbread House, so it doesn't get waterlogged but is always close at hand when I need it.
Not that I need it today, no washing will be hanging outside just yet.
A bit too grey and wet at the moment.
It's brolly weather, not laundry fluttering on the washing line weather!
