old fashioned peg bag

I thought I'd exploit the friendship I have with my new best friend the sewing machine, and make myself a pretty peg bag. One of the (few) things I love about summer, is seeing my freshly washed laundry fluttering on the washing line. A decent peg bag is vital, and why not pretty it up a bit too?

I started with this goodly stash. The pretty floral fabric I bought last week, an old sheet to use as lining, and a pink coat hanger heartlessly swiped from my daughters wardrobe. After 40 minutes or so of cutting, pinning, stitching and swearing, I ended up with this... And I have to say that I am pleased with the outcome. It looks like such an old fashioned peg bag, which is probably down to the choice of fabric and the addition of the lace (which if I'm honest, was to cover up the wiggliest of my machine sewing)! I was making it up as I went along, which is why I can't really explain how I made it, I think it's one of those things that you just need to get on with and work it out as you sew. Or maybe that's just me. At least it was a quick project to get on with.

It seemed like a funny thing to make on a rainy Thursday morning, but when the sunny days appear, I'll be glad of it. My old one was was far too small, and the pegs kept falling out!
