the gingerbread house and the jewellery tree

The second gingerbread house has been made. And I've since been informed by Gorgeous Girl, that she wants me to make a third, this time just for her, so she can eat it!

Which means, that yet again, the house will be filled with a glorious scent, the kitchen table will look like this: and I will swear under my breath again, when the stupid sides of the house fall over before I get the chance to hold them up with jars or tins.

Despite the fiddlyness of making them, it is something I enjoy. I've added a page about making gingerbread houses (link at top of page), so no need for me to waffle on. I'll just show pics instead. The snowman peeping from the chimney was ready made. This little chap has been constructed from mint imperials, a cadbury's choccy button, and half a jelly bean. What do I do with them? I put them on the windowsill in the living room, in front of the Christmas tree.

Both have been 'redecorated' by my Little Elf before being placed in the window! I think it's just a swindle though, so she can eat a few sweeties whilst pretending she's doing some decorating. No, it's not really snowing, I've added it in myself.
The gingerbread houses I make never get eaten. They sit on the windowsill until the decorations come down. They are completely edible (even the glitter used), but they are more about display. I've created a small template, and will work on a small, sweetie covered one, just for my little rascal to demolish!

One of the silver tinsel Christmas trees I made is up in the bedroom. The plan was to keep it plain, with nothing more than a few lights on the branches, and a bow on top.
However, it's on the shelf where I keep jewellery, make up and perfume, and I've found another use for it.

It holds my most often worn jewellery, as well as hair clips. Pretty, and practical! I shall miss it after Christmas.
