Sundays, I just love them

I try to keep our Sundays as traditional as I can.

It starts off lazily, and a lot later than usual. Baths all round instead of showers, and usually scrambled eggs for breakfast in bed for the husband and Gorgeous Girl. It's a lovely, cosy day.

I like to cook a classic roast lunch on a Sunday, but it isn't always possible. For the past few weeks it has been, and I just love the whole procedure of cooking it...

...looking for a specific recipe to go with beef, with a glass of wine (chefs perk, and totally allowed on a Sunday lunchtime!)... ... feeling totally thrilled as I watch my yorkshire puddings start to rise in the oven ... ... then scoffing the fruits of my labour. photos of roast dinners never look very appetising, so you'll have to take my word for it that it was scrummy ~ even if I do say so myself!

I can usually vanish unnoticed for an hour or so, which I did today. I had the luxury of dyeing my hair, which was much needed. Nice to get the chance to do it.
I left the troops downstairs, decorating the third gingerbread house I've made (it has to be the last!).
Before I sealed the roof sections down, I threw in a handful of chocolate coins, so when it's broken apart, an extra treat will be found.
This is the end result, it's a bit like a 'how many sweets can you stick to one gingerbread house' competition! I think it looks fabulous.

And after the kitchen had been cleaned and tidied up, I was able to enjoy the cosy glow given by all the fairy lights.
Having them underneath the cupboards is my 'new thing this year', and I think they may well just stay up all year. (if you want to do something similar, it's just cuphooks screwed into the bottom of the cupboards, then the lights draped over them). I just love the leisurely pace of Sunday, even a Sunday this close to Christmas.
