beautiful flowers

At last I can restore peace and calm to the house.

I mentioned in my previous post that I plan November to be my 'White Month', a time for the house to be clear and uncluttered, and for me to relax and clear my mind before December. Sounds a bit extreme, but all I mean by that is to have a few weeks of calm before the chaos that is Christmas. Our house is usually decorated for something or other, and I've been desperate to see it looking normal and undecorated. I haven't even put the Autumn wreath on the front door this year, it felt like an extra dash of clutter that we really didn't need.
Calling it my White Month simply means pared back and simple. Although I am taking inspiration from the colour :O)

On Saturday we finally bought new bedlinen. It's something I've had on the shopping list for a while, and I'm very pleased that I hadn't seriously gone out looking for anything until now. A trip to trusty [Dunelm] resulted in some beautiful crisp white linen with just a hint of pattern, plus extra pillowcases with ruffles. I gave the photo a sepia wash to help the pattern stand out.

But what I really have to show you is the quilt that I found. I do not need another quilt as I have a good collection of them already, but I had to bring this home ... It is the most 'Cath K~esque' quilt. I can't resist anything floral at the best of times, but this was just totally irresistible. I adore it, and I love how over-the-top flowery the bedroom looks. Flowery, but very cosy. The reverse is red with white dotsies (as my little girl calls them). They have three different designs, all very Cath Kidston looking, and all costing under £40!! An absolute bargain. So if you love the look of CK, and have a branch of Dunelm nearby, go and take a look.(As always I apologise to those of you outside the UK who have never heard of the shop I talk of).

Even Dudley approves. I found a teacup and saucer that I had to have. Again I really don't need any more cups & saucers, but I have an addiction. As both were reduced and combined the cost was less that £2 I couldn't say no really, could I?! I'm planning on starting work on a couple of projects soon. Nothing too demanding, and one that I am hoping will turn out well so I can share the 'How To' here. Either way, I hope to have something crafty to share in my next post :o)
