candles, shoes and chocolates

This isn't really a project to speak of, and it's not even a new idea, but I thought it was worth a mention anyway. To pretty up a plain glass votive holder, just glue a strip of lace around the edge and tie a ribbon in place. I used the lace that I coated in glitter when making [The Mask] for my sister. I had a tiny scrap left over that I didn't want to throw out. I'm glad I didn't, it was the perfect size.
For the sake of safety, don't let your embellishments go higher than the side of the glass. Keep it level or below the edge, to avoid fire hazards.

I haven't yet made a start on the crafty projects that I want to work on. I was going to buy the bits & pieces needed on Tuesday, when I did some shopping. But I got distracted and ended up spending the money I'd put aside for Craft Stuff on a pair of shoes. I needed them! I don't have any Christmas party plans, but I'll still wear them a lot.
I like to wear fabulous shoes when I do the weekly shop on a Saturday morning, so I shall be wearing them this weekend.
I'm hoping to get the crafty stuff I need for my projects this weekend.

Another little indulgence that I just had to share here. Looking for a nice pressie for someone who loves chocolates? Well, then I think I can help. These 'cupcake' choccies are just gorgeous. I thought I'd treat Gorgeous Girl and myself to some fabulous chocs. Available from [Choclates for Chocoholics] Truly scrumptious, they would make a lovely pressie. Though I must warn you, you might not want to part with them as they really are as tempting as they look.

It feels incredibly autumnal now. Our clocks went back last weekend, so it's dark very early in the evening now. I know a lot of people hate the dark evenings, but I love it. It makes me feel so cosy.
Trees are losing their leaves, and those left waiting to fall are the prettiest shades of red, orange and browns. It really is the most beautiful time of year. My roses aren't giving up without a fight, a few are still flowering in the front garden. I prune them when they finish flowering in the summer, it always gives me a few late autumn blooms. Tomorrow it's the 5th November - Guy Fawkes Night, Fireworks Night or Bonfire Night - call it what you will. There will be lots of fireworks sent up over the weekend. I think we'll get a small box of fireworks to have in the garden. Gorgeous Girl loves them as long as they aren't too loud or scary.
To those of you in England, I wish you a happy and safe Bonfire Night.
