The sun is shining in England. Those of you who have known me for years, will know my feelings on this! For those of you who have not known me for years, I should point out that I am a rainy weather kind of girl. I'm much happier with grey skies, raindrops and cups of tea. However, I do try to find things that I like about sunny days, and make an effort for Gorgeous Girl. It's not up to me to colour her opinions about anything, I want her to enjoy life and make up her own mind about her likes and dislikes. So today, we had a picnic. Nothing extravagent (though I did of course add flower arrangements!), simple food of fruit, mini quiche, cheese, crackers, bread and a couple of cakes.
I always buy rose lemonade. I am not a huge fan of lemonade, but the flavour of this one is very delicate and best of all ~ it's a pale pink!
We had a 'dotsy and flowers' theme. ('dotsy' is one of Gorgeous Girls words)
To add a little bit of billowy fabric, I pinned tulle and organza to the parasol. The parasol isn't abnormally short, I deliberately didn't bother to attach the lower half.
The fabric was pinned to the parasol using very long pearl headed pins. They have to be long, short pins would not work for this.
The fabric was an experiment, it was a bit of a test for an idea I have for the parasol in the future. Gorgeous Girl in her hat.
My hat.
Floral frocks were the order of the day.
We had a very splendid time :o)At last we have finally placed the order for all of the wallpaper we needed from Laura Ashley. I'm looking forward to seeing both dining and living rooms finished. I mention it as LA have 50% off their wallpaper at the moment, until tomorrow. It is an amazing offer, especially as their wallpaper is reasonably priced anyway. So if anyone in the UK has been thinking of buying LA wallpaper, now really is the time to do it.
