Even though I try to avoid looking into them as I walk past, I love having lots of mirrors in the house. In an ideal world, our home would be stuffed full of gorgeous French antique mirrors and furniture. However, in The Real World, I make do with finding things that look like the real thing, or at least give the impression of being 'almost'.... At a distance .... If you squint a bit!
I'm not proud, I love finding things at a good price, with the right look.
The mirror in the dining room is a brilliant bargain find from ..... good old [Dunelm-Mill] of course! Their choice of mirrors is fantastic. They have all designs, all shapes, all sizes, and all very affordable. This mirror was just under £40, which is an excellent price for the size of it.
I thought I'd end up putting a paint wash on it, but once we got it home I decided it didn't need any interference from me. It is perfect as it is. The frame is some kind of moulded plastic, but even looking close up you wouldn't really know. It's only the back of it that gives it away.
If you can get to a Dunelm shop yourself, then do so. They have so much more in store than on the website. They had another mirror that I really wanted for the shower room, but of course, when we went to get it they had all gone. That's the only thing. You have to buy when you see or the chances are they will all go. I'm ending with a close up of one of the roses I have in the living room at the moment. Utterly gorgeous. The outer petals are a pale green with pink streaks, the centre is the most delicious sugar almond pink.
