While perusing the aisles of Sainbury's this morning, I happened upon some straw hats. Rather nice, and costing just 3 teeny tiny British pounds. Bargain. I've been looking for an inexpensive, plain, straw hat for wearing in the garden. I threw it in the trolley and knew just what to do with it when I got back home. I took my stash of recently made (and fast depleting) stash of roses
and stitched randomly to the front of the hat.Turning it from this ..
to this ..
.. in less than ten minutes. I could have glued the roses on, but I prefer to stitch decorations to hats. Makes it simple if I decide to change them at any time.
I've been using the roses on pressies for friends and family this week, they work incredibly well to pretty up gifts. I need to make more soon as I am running out. This the second of three projects I had planned for the roses. To read about making the flat roses, click [here].
I bought Gorgeous Girl the most scrumptious hat this morning too. White with pink raffia flowers embroidered over it. Jealous? Moi? Absolutely! It's fabulous and I want one the same!
Of course, since adding the flowers to the hat the sun has gone in and hidden behind thick clouds streaked with grey. When hot sunshiney days are here for real, both Girly-chops and I will be ready.
Oh, must just tell you. The husband really liked my painting of the half moon table (see previous post). Just as well really, as I wasn't planning scraping it off if he didn't! Anyway, it's inspired him, so tomorrow we are off to gather paint and other vitals to start redecorating the dining room. Fantastic!
