flowers, sunshine, and paint

Apart from the carnations, all the flowers in these jars are from the garden. Just so pretty.

Yesterday we had an afternoon of fairly heavy rain. Today the air has cleared and the sun was shining. Gorgeous girl and I have been outside a lot today, just enjoying the warmth and running around. A butterfly came to join us and we were quiet enough to get a decent piccie.
The sunshine inspired me to get my tin of paint and a paintbrush out. Even though I was running very low on paint, I just HAD to get started on painting a little half moon table that we've had for years. It used to belong to my parents. It's not an antique or I would not take the paint to it, it was just starting to look very tired and needed a new lease of life.

Before.... during .... this is when I really wonder what on earth I am doing, but I carry on regardless! I know (hope!) that once dried and scuffed up a little all will be well.
I even painted the inside of the drawer, and added wallpaper on the bottom. After...I am so pleased I did it!
Because I was running low on paint, I ended up brushing on and blending three slightly different colours, and actually the effect was rather nice. I'd do it again. I had fun dressing the table so I could take a decent photo, but I should point out that it never looks like this really. Normally there are toys on top and underneath, as it lives in the dining room, which tends to double up as a playroom. This room is up for a revamp. The walls are going to be duck egg blue, and I've seen some gorgeous curtains that I'd like. The table will stay where it is, and I'm planning on hanging a mirror above it, for a bit of glamour and to reflect the light that pours in from the patio doors. I'm not sure when we will start redecorating the dining room, and by 'we' I do of course mean the husband! Hopefully soon, I'll show photos when we do.

Now I need to stock up on more paint, because I feel sure I can find something else to paint soon! Wonder what the husband will think when he returns from work tonight and sees what I've done!!
