Cosy Friday

So while it's been coldy-cold-cold outside, The Girl and I have been cosy and warm indoors. You know it's seriously cold when a tiny child refuses the offer of going out to build a snowman!

I have completed one little project. I wondered if I'd prefer our mannequin to be recovered. I was going to paint the legs and distress them too. After covering the body, I am not sure that I like it. All that hard work. I haven't fixed the sewing machine yet, so I have spent a few hours each day working on this, and sewing by hand. I'll leave it for now, but I suspect I will remove the new cover (made it as a slipcover so I could remove it), but what a shame it didn't turn out as well as I hoped. It's ok, I suppose, and I'm glad I did it as it's been on my mind for ages. I just expected it to look better. Trouble is, satin isn't the best fabric to use, very hard to get it tight enough.
I really want to get on with my Christmas projects, but I can't until my fabric order arrives. I suspect the snow is responsible for it taking so long.

The ballet shoes that I ordered on Ebay arrived, so I stitched the ribbon onto them (the newest ones are the darker peach ones). I have a thing about pointe shoes. I like to see them hanging up in a nonchalant manner. This is my third pair, and I'll be buying more. I'm not a dancer and have no desire to be one. I just love pointe shoes. In between fiddling around doing a bit of sewing, I've started to think about my cookware. It needs a good sort out. I have a load of stuff that I could really get rid of. The snownman shaped lollipop moulds for example, and the Christmas pudding/cake dome that I've never used, and suspect never will. I need to streamline but also buy things that I need or want. I sent the husband out to buy me two spring handled ice cream scoops. Not for ice cream, one is to use for scooping meat into meatballs, the other is for using to scoop cookie dough - and ice cream. I've marked them in nail varnish so I keep the meat one for meat, the sweet one for sweet. I've sorted out my old magazines and purged the house of ones that I don't want to keep. I've even cleaned out the larder.

The kettle is permanently whistling, but to give myself a break from sweet, milky tea, I've been having a cup of this every now and then. It's actually very nice.

More keeping warm and drinking tea this afternoon. I'm going to take this magazine and sit in the living room with Gorgeous Girl. We didn't get round to redecorating the dining room last year, so it's top of our list for this year. I should get a few inspirational ideas from here!
