Yesterday our little girl was ill, so I asked the Husband to go to a couple of shops for me as I needed to stay home with her. I desperately needed some new reels of cotton, and normally I would never ask him to get it for me, as I'm very funny about my cotton. He followed my
I love the colours he chose, so soft and beautiful. I asked for the green because I want to alter an item of clothing, and he even got that colour spot on too.
The only thing I specified - and I'm pleased to say that he took note of - was that I didn't want him to buy Gütermann cotton, I don't have anything against it (I do have some and use it), I simply prefer the [Coats Duet] thread. I like how it feels, looks, works on the sewing machine, and I prefer the squat shape of the reels. The Gütermann reels are thinner and taller which for some unknown reason I like less. What can I say? I'm particular about my cotton! I wonder if I'm the only one who has a preference for the type of thread she uses? I suspect not. I must mention my Husband, and say how lucky I am to have married such a lovely man. He's always so encouraging with all of my craft projects. Years ago (when we first met) he told me that he'd been trying to describe me to a friend of his, and one of the ways he described me was as 'always making something. She makes things out of nothing'. I rather like that. Luckily for me, he is more than happy to let me 'make things out of nothing' and is so laid back that he's fine with me changing the house over to a flowery filled pink~tastic Girl House!

You forget your cares and strife...
I must be feeling romantic because Valentine's Day is so close. Talking of which, I finally made a card for him. Very simple. Just glue, card, brown wrapping paper, clear 'script' paper (I can't remember, but I think it's called Vellum), a paper flower, ribbon and some pink netting.
A word about the clear paper that I'm calling Vellum. If you use glue to attach it, it goes really bubbly and looks obvious and not very nice. Instead, I use the transparent corners for attaching photos in photo albums.
You can see that the picture section of the card is slightly raised. I have used tiny double sided sticky squares, just to give a bit of a lift and make it more interesting. I just need to finish off the card I started last week, for my little girl to give to Daddy.
I'll finish this post by showing you the front cover of the March edition of Country Living, which plopped through my front door this morning. It's as beautiful as it always is, but this time I had to smile when I saw it. I've not looked through it yet, but I was delighted to see the use of a tin as a vase on the front! I love it when the things I do match up with something in Country Living. You can see how I use tins as vases by going back to [this post] :O)
