Feeling brave

I decided to stop being a wimp over using the sewing machine, and just go for it. So, I have almost finished one half of the curtains for the kitchen. I am sure there is a 'right' way of doing it, but I'm just doing it my way. As long as they look like and work like proper curtains I'll be happy!

I took this photo this afternoon, when checking the drop. The hem of the lining isn't stitched in place, and I didn't pull the heading tape tightly or attach all the curtain hooks as it was literally just checking the drop. (That explains the droopy top and straggly hem!) The lining is pink, I love it! You can see I've pinned it in place down the side. I'm going to finish off by hand stitching as I think it will look more discreet than using the machine. I'm going to work on the second curtain tomorrow, then take the rest of the week finishing off with hand sewing.

I'm feeling quite pleased with myself. This is the first time I've ever made curtains from scratch like this and *fingers crossed* all seems to be going well. I just love the floral fabric, I can't wait until they're completed and up. And for the kitchen walls to be painted pink.
