I really liked the way that they turned out, and it's such a good way of using up little scraps of fabric, baby clothes (which is what I used) or the fat quarters that you go beserk buying online, even though you have no idea what you'll use the for. *Ahem*Anyway, note to self, the red one seems to have gone missing, so no doubt my little Princess has squirreled it away somewhere and I must find it.
I thought I'd make more today to use some of the leftover fabrics from last week, and using the sewing machine to speed up the process. Now the fruit dish in the kitchen is nicely full of pointless fabric apples that serve no purpose than to look pretty!
I added some of my velvet roses to the bowl 'just because'. I wanted to show you this one close up, because it's made from one of my husbands old shirts!
I cut the flower from a Cath Kidston fabric sample, and glued on with fabric glue. At Christmas I had some of my fabric apples pushed into a wreath I had hanging on my back door. (Photo of it on my Flickr photos).
This idea comes from one of my favourite books. Sew Pretty Christmas Homestyle.
I can't praise the 'Sew Pretty' range of books enough. They are so beautiful to look through that you can't stop looking through them! The ideas are wonderful, and quite easy to follow. The only thing I will say is that the apples made in November had a better shape - more appley - which I think is because I sewed them by hand. The machined apples are rounder. So while it's quicker to machine them, handsewing them gives a better apple shape. In my opinion.
