Only a teensy makeover. Tucked away behind the garage is my little hidden garden. It was wasted space at first, but we decided it could be used. I tend to grow tomatoes and French beans there.
I often call it my [little secret garden], because that's what it feels like. When I'm in there, no one knows. It's the closest I have to a walled garden, and in summer it is a lovely place to be. A tree from a neighbouring garden hangs over, giving dappled shade, but it still gets plenty of sun.
On Monday, the sun showed her face. I went insane and thought it was warm enough to get outside. It was freezing, but armed with a cup of tea I went out anyway. Painting the terracotta pots inspired me, and I wanted to give my little tomato garden a makeover.
The Before...And After ....Nothing much, but enough to make a difference and brighten it up.
I painted the trellis pale pink. And the tomato pots have had a white-then-distressed treatment. Which I LOVE! Why didn't I think of this before? I'll get some tomato seeds started off soon, but they won't be planted out until they are sturdy, and the weather warms up.On Monday night it absolutely poured. I had visions of the paint on the trellis being washed away, but it was fine.
The painted pots have stood up well to not only heavy rain, but the sleet and snow we've also enjoyed this week! British weather is never boring!
After all that hard work (not really, actually surprisingly quick and easy), you have to treat yourself to tea, cake, and sandwiches. That's the law.
