DIY painted terracotta pots

The sun was out yesterday morning, and my thoughts turned to getting a garden project started. Naturally, the inspiration came via Pinterest. I'm really enjoying working on projects that I have seen there.
Normally I use any old paint for my projects, anything I find in the garage. But as this is for outside, and as England is pretty rainy most of the time, I thought it best to use a garden paint, and chose pale pink and white.
I used the leftover paint from when we painted the [garden chairs and the playhouses]. I gave the pots a quick wipe to remove any surface dirt before I started.
Paint it on. Doesn't have to be perfect, unless you want solid colour. If that was the case, take your time and do it nicely. I wasn't bothered about streaks and blotches.
Then leave to dry. It was a sunny but windy morning, that helped, meant the paint dried out quickly.
Once dry, get a bit of sandpaper and scratch away. I found a circular motion worked best for me.
File away until you are happy. I aimed for an old and faded look.
In a few months time the pots will look more faded, dirty, and the paint more chipped. But this gives it a head start.

My effort beside a shop bought painted pot. It's a few years old now. We had a couple like this, but one broke. Since then, I've not found any painted pots that I like as much. I am delighted to know that I can do them myself so easily.
This week I'll start off some herb seeds to go in my painted pots. I've already turned my attention to my tomato pots.
They are going to be white, the trellis has had a coat of pink paint. No pic to show as I left it very late before starting it ~ just under an hour before I had to leave for school! Going to try and get it finished today, weather permitting.
