just about finished!

Over the weekend we bought a few pieces of furniture for the craft room, and now I am happy to say, it's more or less finished!

Back in January the craft room was still Gorgeous Girls room, it looked [like this]. A few changes later ,and it now looks like this. Now I've got to trawl around the house and find all the fabric I have stashed away. It's lovely to think I can have it all in one place now. And my craft magazines can come out from under the bed, they have a new home too. I'm so pleased with all of the furniture. The Ikea storge is totally perfect, and will keep my fabrics and junk neat and orderly.
In my mind I'd decided on white distressed for the table and chair, but when I saw these pieces I immediately changed my mind. Not the sort of colour I'd normally go for, but I literally fell in love. The side table (renamed The Flower Table) was a bonus.

The table and chair have been positioned this way for a reason. The reason being I wanted to face the window. So I can look outside and watch the leaves falling in autumn, the snow falling in winter, and heavy rain in summer (!). I love this view. We overlook a park, in the colder months when the trees are free of leaves you can see people walking their dogs and lads playing football.

The table is such a great find. It's big enough for my sewing machine, or for writing or using the laptop, but it's small enough that it doesn't take up too much room. The craft room doubles as my laundry room. The place where I like to do the ironing and have washing hanging up to dry.
This corner is where I keep the laundry. Didn't think you'd really want to see my washing hanging up to dry, so I've moved it. The walls are staying uncluttered. I use these walls as a backdrop when I take photos for my blog, so I didn't want lots of things on them. That's also the reason for only having one wall papered, and leaving the rest plain. I am glad however, to finally have a home for this picture. It's a page from Country Life magazine, dated 1st April 1933. It's been in a frame for over a year, but never had a permanent home. There is still a bit of finishing off to do with the painting, the door, windowsill and skirting boards need to be painted, and I have no doubt I'll be making a few changes too. Taking things away, adding things. I may or may not cut the bottom of the curtains, right now I like them in pools on the floor. I am sure I'll be adding a flowery rug at some point too. But most of the work has been done, and I can't wait to get stuck into a few sewing projects.

Even better that it's just in time for school holidays, I'm sure Gorgeous Girl and I are going to use this room a lot.
