little details

I wanted to show you the petticoat I bought to go under my dress-turned-skirt that I blogged about last time.
Love it. So pretty. Bought from [House of Olivier].
If the wettest drought ever finally comes to an end, and the sun comes out, I'm looking forward to wearing it!

Just like everyone else out there, my days are made up of things I have to do, and things I want to do.
Recently I've had loads of things that I wanted to do, and I've worked them in as and when I could. Around daily life, and looking after this little rascal!
(Self portrait by The Girl)
The girl herself has been the reason for large project in the garden, but I'll write about that next week.

At the weekend I bought the latest edition of 'Handmade Living'. When I saw this page, I knew I'd be making them myself. So I bought the few items needed .. .. and make some cake toppers.
[cake cases available here]
I've made some jewellery. Another necklace in the style that I love so much. And I made two vintage style cuffs for The Girl and I. In truth, this was an excuse to use off cuts of ribbon and lace that I had and thought too pretty to have sitting in the sewing basket. Very simple to do. Take a thick piece of ribbon (or fabric), measure around your wrist, then attach velcro to each end, and decorate however you want. The Girl wanted pink sequins on hers!
This week I'm working on something that is going to take time to complete. I'm painting the legs on the dining table. Each morning I flip it upside down, paint each leg and sides, then leave to dry. At the end of the day I flip it back again, then I do it all over again the following day. The paint I'm using can't be rushed, so I'm having to take my time. Which slightly goes against the grain, I much prefer quick painting projects!

The paint looks streaky in this snippet. It'll be fine by the time I've finished.
The craft room hasn't been forgotten about, just pushed to one side for a bit. We've been concentrating on the project in the garden instead.
