a glimpse of the sun

Something quite unusual happened at the weekend. The sun came out.
I'm not one to go into raptures over sunshiney days, but I have to admit that there was something rather lovely about having breakfast outside on a Sunday monring. Listening to the sound of the birds singing, and feeling the warmth of the sun on my back as I read the paper.

We spent a goodly amount of time in the garden. The Project I mentioned last week is coming along nicely, and I'll show pictures in a day or two.

The girl and I planted peas. The children at her school have all been given packets of Birds Eye peas to plant. I suspect it's to encourage them to eat them, but also spark an interest in gardening.
While working, a caterpillar dropped into my lap, delighting the girl, who loves to read the book 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. Spending time outside reminded me that I've not yet started off any vegetable seeds, and must do so this week. At this rate they'll be no Pick Your Own tomatoes and lettuces, so I must get it sorted. I do have potatoes all ready to be planted in a big pot, so that's something.

This morning it is raining again. That suits me fine, I have lots of things to be getting on with inside the house. The dining table legs will have their final coat of paint, and I have more sewing to get on with. Must just point out that the previous photo was not one of my better ideas. Very nearly stitched right through my fingers, so no more 'action shots' like this for me!

How was your weekend?
