an Easter holiday

I didn't have much in the way of Easter decorating to share this year, because we weren't going to be here to enjoy it.

We just wanted to get away for Easter. We've spent the past week scooting around Kent and East Sussex, and had a lovely time. The weather has been changeable to say the least, but nothing wrong with that. It's Real Springtime weather, and something that I love about England. One minute the sun is out, the next it's torrential downpours and everyone dives for cover! It didn't stop us from visiting the beaches. When we go away, we take Dudley with us, so we have to find a cottage that will not only allow pets, but says yes to a cat. It's an unusual request, and not many cottage owners are keen on it. But if you don't ask the question, you never know.
Dud's an important part of our family, and he deserves a holiday too! We've spent our time gadding around admiring the oast houses, cobbled streets in Rye ... ... beautiful countryside, beaches ... ... fabulous pubs and enjoying that holiday feeling. There has also been shopping!

Naturally, when you are within driving distance of Cath Kidston, then it's only polite to take a jaunt there. The husband said it was about an hours drive, and his Easter pressie to me was to take us there and buy a few goodies! Yey! The nearest one to where we were staying was in Canterbury. Stash! I hope Cath will forgive me for admitting this, but we found a shop that I just fell in love with, and have to share it with you. If you are ever in [Tenterden, Kent], then you just HAVE to visit the fabulous [Thumbelina]. I can't explain it, other than to say that if The Shop Around the Corner in 'You've got Mail' had been a toy shop rather than book shop, then without a doubt it would have looked like this. I swear this toyshop was sprinkled with magic. I spoke with the owner (a lovely lady) who was happy to let me take photos. Have to say though, they don't do it justice, it's so much better in real life. You can see my little girl playing in the distance in this photo. Just perfect.

What did we buy? Tons of stuff! It was all so tempting. My favourite purchase was the ballroom skirt. I know it is going to be used A LOT. Love it. It was so good to get away and be with my little family.
I hope you had a wonderful Easter too.
