books

A cup of tea, a good book, and a slice of homemade cake (well, it was there before I scoffed it!), is there any sight more comforting than that?

The very lovely Charis of [Charismagick] blogged about the books on her bedside table, and tagged me to do the same.

Here they are. I tend to mainly read home decorating, crafty, or cookery books. I throw in a novel from time to time, but often struggle to find time to read them from start to finish. That's why I prefer a pile of books like this so I can just dip into them but not feel as if I have to read the entire thing.

[Why do we have to live with men?] ~ Bernadette Strachan
It's taken a while to get into this, but I am enjoying the story. I do enjoy reading novels, it's nice to step inside a fictional world and take a nose around.
[The Essential Tea Companion] ~ Victoria magazine
Beautiful book packed full of gorgeous photos and lovely recipe ideas. Am so tempted to try out the 'Lily of the valley' cake, for no other reason than I love the name.
[The Vintage Tea Party Book] ~ Angel Adoree
Love everything about this book. More than just a cookbook, there are suggestions of vintage style things to make (including giving your hair a vintage style!). I've tried several recipes from it since I bought it. The book is beautiful to look at and read through. Buy it!
[Homemade gifts, Vintage Stlye] ~ Sarah Moore
Wonderful ideas in this book, and a few that I know I shall be working on (in my own way). I've linked up to where I bought this book from, but will also say that it was sold for £5.99 in the shop, not the price shown on the website. Bargain!
[Fabulous Baker Brothers] Fabulous boys, fabulous book. Gorgeous men who cook! Need I say more?!

I've got a glut of magazines hidden out of view too. I've always got a plethora of magazines kicking around, magazines are a slight obsession.

When you have several books that you are reading or browsing at the same time, you end up needing a lot of bookmarks.

I made one of these for my little girl recently (she loves books too, I am happy to say), and liked the idea so much I've made more.

Simple to do. Take a flower, either vintage, homemade, shop bought - whatever you like. Grab a piece of ribbon, and glue the flower to the top, leave to dry, then use as a bookmark. It's a great way for me to use up the flowers I keep making then not knowing what to do with! My favourite is the one with the vintage flower.

I won't tag anyone speficially, but why not blog about the books on your bedside table?
