keeping the magic alive

One of the things I love most about being a Mum, is making sure The Girl feels the magic of Christmas. Everyone is different, but I like Children to be safe in their home, enjoying the memories created by their parents.

And in this house, it means keeping alive the belief of Father Christmas, fairies, Elves, and anything else I can think of!

I realised that my little Sweet Pea hadn't written to the Big FC, so I suggested she do so. Then I left her letter on the dining room table and kicked myself when it was found and disappointment clouded her face. So. I told her to go and place it on the coals in the fireplace, as that is how the letters reach the North Pole. (And if you've ever watched 'Santa Claus - The Movie' you will know that I am totally right!).

That's what she did. Then she went and had a bath. When we came back downstairs, something had happened. Tiny foot prints, glitter and some sweeties gave a clue that we'd had an Elf Visitor. We must have disturbed him, because he'd left part of the envelope behind in his haste to get away. Amazing what you can do with a handful of glitter, baby shoes, some icing sugar and a tea strainer ;o)

Now I've got a little girl who is very excited, knowing that The Big Man has had her letter.

Seven years ago today, on a cold, frosty, but sunny Thursday morning, I got up and got ready for my wedding day.

I had my tiny crown attached to my head by the world's grumpiest hairdresser (she did nothing but gripe about how hard it was to attach. miserable mare). Then I was collected in this fab little car, and driven to what I consider to be the most beautiful venue. It was the most perfect day. It's been a lovely 7 years, made even better by the addition of a certain little girl. Happy Anniversary to us.
