Christmas Eve

I love Christmas Eve. It has to be the best day of the year, there really is something magical about it.

Today we have spent a glorious day. Doing nothing in particular, and staying close to home. We've been to some of the places we just love to visit. I think it has been my most favourite Christmas Eve ever.

We started with a quick visit to this place. Tempting. My gorgeous girl was doing a little dance in front of the turkeys and cuts of pork. Then we meandered over to another fabulous place. Love the SFH so much. That woman in the purple coat wanted to kill me. I managed to click just as she shovelled a sample slice of panettone into her mouth! ha!
Earlier in the week, the husband had bought a chicken for us to have tomorrow. It was teeny tiny, so while perfectly ok, there would be very little in the way of leftovers. I don't want a massive amount of leftovers, but I do want something. I laughed that it was a chicken worthy of Dickens' Cratchit family. We thought it was good to have in the fridge, but if the we happened upon a better one then we'd get that instead.
We were able to get a very decent chicken in the SFH, which I will roast with the bacon we bought at Jimmy's farm. It's going to be a real feast now. The small chicken is in the freezer, so it won't be wasted.

And, just for me, there is a tiny panettone to scoff too. (The girl and the husband aren't fans!) I love shopping like this at Christmas, when it's not vital, but fun to do.
Afterwards we toodled off to a pub for lunch. If you were ever a fan of the 'Lovejoy' series then you may well recognize it, as it was featured quite a lot. The food is scrummy, and it's definitely a pub with a view. We even managed a little stroll by the river after eating. Here's my little lady admiring the view. It's been a gorgeous day. Perfect, really.
Now we're all ready for a visit from the Big F.C.
The tray of food is in place (since taking this photo we've added some Elf donuts). All he has to do now is turn up! I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and all the best for a happy and healthy 2012.

Enjoy tomorrow.
