it feels like Autumn to me when ..

I find the first pumpkins for sale in the supermarket. And when I can no longer resist, and I just have to open a tin of pureed pumpkin ... ... and turn it into pumpkin pie. I love pies - sweet or savoury - but this is possibly my favourite sweet pie of all time. The smell of the spices as the pie cooks, and the way the flavour improves when it's cold makes it one of the most comforting things you can bake.

Of course, I couldn't resist cutting a slice and taking it out into the garden. The weather is glorious. Thankfully we haven't been hit by terribly hard wind here, I know other parts of the UK are getting thrashed by heavy wind today. It's breezy, yes, but it's not scary-windy. The sun is shining, the sky at the moment is a clear blue, the clouds fluffy with a hint of grey, the air smells of fresh-cut grass after the husband mowed the lawn yesterday.

Quite simply, it feels like a beautiful Autumn day.
