A new year has begun! I hope everyone had a good time celebrating. We always have a very quiet time here. I normally sleep through from one year to the next, but last night I was awoken by fireworks and lots of shouts of 'happy new year'. I suspect there will be a few sore heads around the neighbourhood this morning!
I wanted to say 'New year, New project', but in truth I made this a couple of days ago. I've had the idea bubbling in my mind for a few weeks, but with Christmas looming, time wasn't on my side.
So instead of doing what needed to be done, I got out the sewing machine and worked on some Baby Bunting to hang on the living room mirror.
I love bunting, and plan to make a lot of it this year, in various sizes. As always, this is far from perfect. The end of the 'V's' should be sharper, and it's not perfectly spaced, but I rather like the imperfections.
Before Christmas, I watched a programme on TV where a lady had made her own bunting, and strewn it with tiny little lights. It looked so pretty that I really wanted to copy it.
I've not had much success in finding the same kind of lights. The husband found these battery run lights, which are ok, they're the right sort of thing, but I'm not a fan of the bright bluey hue. Does anyone know where I can find lights like this in the UK, preferably plug in, but with more of a yellow light? It's on my Things To Find and Buy list. I plan for them to be out all year, so need to find the right ones. The best thing about these ones is as the battery fades, so does the brightness of the lights! Much nicer than the nuclear glow they give off when batteries are fresh!
So if anyone can help me with my quest for lights, please leave a link in the comments, I'd appreciate it.
The other thing to show you is a very quick and simple garland I made. I meant to show you before Christmas, but the time thing was my problem, then I forgot and only just remembered.
I'm showing it now, because it would work well for birthday decorations too.
My pom pom garland.
So easy it's laughable. Make as many pom poms as you can (to make small ones it's easier and quicker to wind wool around your fingers rather than card), then tie to a length of ribbon. Time to get the year started. Hope you have the best year ever :o)
