maybe ...

... it'll be a white Christmas this year.

For the second time, in almost as many weeks, Great Britain has been covered in snow. In some parts of the country it's very thick, but here it's not too bad. A winter wonderland, yes, but not impassable. At least not for us.

Which meant we could do our planned shopping this weekend, including almost all the food needed for Christmas Day. Nice to get it out of the way. Just a few bits and pieces need to be bought during the week, but not a great deal.

I needed a few bits for the Christmas table. Nothing much, just a few candle holders and tealights.
The centre piece will be this pressed glass stand. It's quite shallow, but I'm going to cut the roses I've bought very short, and pack them in tightly (roses are stashed in water in the garage, they'll be fine until I need them. photo taken yesterday morning when there was only a scant amount of snow on the ground). I bought the silk rose wreath to sit around the base, and mercury glass candle holders. That's pretty much it, I want it to be low key with just a hint of sparkle. Nothing too fussy. Though I couldn't resist these tealights. They won't be seen when sitting in the candle holders, but I'll know rose shaped candles are melting in there. With the weather as it is, it would be easy to just curl up with a blanket and a cup of tea, and stay toasty warm at home. But with Christmas sorted, I decided I needed a little bit of retail therapy for myself. No fresh snow had fallen overnight, so it was easy for us to get into town. I love accessories, and Primark have been fantastic for them this year. They tend to have the same style, but bring them out in different colours every few weeks, so it's always worth popping in on a regular basis. This is my little splurge from today. I've bought two each of the jewellery items just because I love them so much, I wanted a spare of each. The ivory corsages are fantastic, they are huge. The size of a saucer, and of course I had to buy two, one will more than likely end up on a hat.
The dark splodge on top of the ivory flowers is a beaded hair band, and it is beautiful. The photo does it no justice at all. The detail is fabulous, and for just £3. Amazing.
My favourite purchase is the ring. I have a fondness for oversized flower rings, and am always on the lookout for them. Primark always have good ones, but they've never had them as pretty as this before. They remind me of the ones that Chanel and Dior make. Excuse shabby nails!

So don't forget to buy yourself a little something pretty this week. Just a little something to reward yourself for all the hard work you've put into Christmas already, and will continue to do until it's all over for another year!

Enjoy your Week Before Christmas, and if you are deep in snow, stay cosy, warm and safe.
