It's been a busy week here in the Cotton Rose household. I celebrated my birthday ~ thank you to those of you who knew, and left me good wishes, very much appreciated :o) ~ and with that out of the way, I've had to keep my promise to Gorgeous Girl and start getting out the Halloween decorations. If left to my own devices, I think our Halloween would be in shades of grey, silver and burnished bronze. Little One is just a child, and loves Halloween in all it's garish orange and purple glory! So for the main part, I've decorated with her in mind, though one or two Sadie touches have sneaked in ;o) I've managed to get quite a bit of sparkly prettiness throughout.
You can tell by the first photo that I've managed to get hold of the Munchkin Pumpkins. They were finally in the supermarket yesterday. I bought three and spent a lovely time coating with glue and glitter. I took them outside to get them to sparkle in the sun, but now they are dotted around the house.
The black and purple candlelabra came from [The Range]. The vintage style garland from [This Post] is back on the mirror. We have glittery skulls tied to the stair bannisters ..
Cobwebs brush against your hair on the way up the stairs ..
The kitchen has orange paper pumpkins hanging from the light fitting, and on the table sits a pumpkin candle holder that reads 'trick or treat'.
I still have lots left to add: spiders, ghosts and more paper pumpkins, but it took a lot longer than I expected so I decided to leave the rest until the coming week. The dining room has only purple cobweb and a cardboard haunted house in it so far, but they'll be more.
This is my favourite. A silver glittery skull nestled in amongst the paper roses that are always sitting on top of the mirror, and a silvery cobweb. It's almost elegant!
Gorgeous Girl *LOVES* Hello Kitty. Last year she had a Halloween Kitty balloon. Since about June of this year, she's been asking me 'is Halloween Kitty in the balloon shop yet mummy?'. I've had to explain that she wouldn't be there until the Autumn. A couple of weeks ago, the balloon shop in town had her beloved balloon in stock.
While happy to see her again, I thought that in just a few weeks the balloon would be flat, and Gorgeous Girl would disappointed again. I had a brainwave. I bought some black and orange felt, then hunted down one the Kitty toy that I knew had no clothes on her.
This morning I set to work, before too long I had made this ..
I must admit that it turned out better than I expected it to. I couldn't bear to cover up her pretty pink bow with orange felt, so left it as it was. Gorgeous One was thrilled with her Halloween Kitty! I shall end by showing you a sneak preview of my Halloween costume for the party my sister is holding this year. I'm going to accessorise with a black beaded bag and probably the purple high heels just peeking out from the bottom of the dress, but I haven't made up my mind yet.
