I've been waiting for this book to be released for ages. Last week I visited Amazon and found it was available. Hurrah. I ordered it and it arrived at the weekend. I love it. And if you are a fan of Rachel Ashwell or Atlanta Bartlett books, then I am confident that you would love it too. It's full of beautiful room design photos, and sprinkled with pretty vignettes.
While I've yet to have a proper read of it, it has given me the push I need to get my paintbrush out! It's been far too long since I did anything creative around the house. Today, I managed to start and finish two projects that I've been wanting to do for months.
First of all, the picture frame in the living room. Every time I looked at it I'd think 'I must paint it cream'.

*My Top Tip* painting frames can be a fiddly task, so make life easier for yourself. Screw a cup hook into a garden fence, remove the glass then hang the empty frame on the hook. Makes it so easy to paint all sides, and the air soon dries it.
On a roll, I grabbed the tiny little table (part of a nest of three) that my little girl has beside her small pink sofa.
I gave it several coats of cream paint, but decided to finish off with a faded pink colour. I got the colour by mixing what was left of the cream paint, with a pale pink paint. (Don't forget, if you mix a colour make sure you mix enough to finish the job. It would be practically impossible to recreate exactly if you run out halfway.)It's really hard to get the colour to show up in the photos because it is so pale, but you can get the idea by the paintbrush comparable, and the 'inside the paint tin' photo.
It doesn't help that daylight was fading when I took the finished table photos, in bright daylight you can see the pale pink tinge well. I think it turned out very nicely.
Here it is, back in its rightful place. I should add that the vase of flowers were just to make it look pretty for the photo. They have now been removed, and my little girls normal junk - books, toys, juice cup etc. - replaced!
