it feels like summer

I've just been outside and picked these roses from the garden. You can still see the raindrops on the petals and leaves. I thought the Le Parfait jar was a nice alternative to a plain vase. This, in my view, is the best thing about summer. Having an ongoing glut of fresh flowers to pick whenever I want.

I certainly feels like summer now. We've had hot, muggy weather followed by fabulous storms non stop for 4 days now, and it looks set to last. No complaints here, I love this kind of weather! It is raining as I type, so I am a happy person.

Just let me adjust my 'Mum of the Year' crown as I admit this, but I couldn't be bothered to go overboard with decorating the house for Gorgeous Girls birthday this year. My excuse was that it was too hot and I was drained, the truth is I was too lazy!!! However, I did make a bit of an effort, which seemed to go down well. A few pink butterfly garlands, some 'birthday girl' balloons, helium balloons and my trusty pink paper balls from [Re-found objects], were strewn in the kitchen and dining room.

Simple and pretty. It hardly took any time to do, and added a little pink magic to the day :o)

Gorgeous One was thrilled to look out into the garden and find a new pink slide had appeared. And she loved her jaunt to Toys R Us. Again, the colour of the day seemed to be pink, as you can see for yourself from her shopping trolley! It's probably just as well that we are not rich people, or I would be tempted to let her shop like this all the time. The joy on her face when she was told to choose whatever she liked was priceless. A little spoiling one day a year is a good thing!

After all the excitement, we trotted off to [Frankie & Benny's] for something to eat. I love it there. Great food, very relaxed atmosphere and incredibly child friendly. Not one single look of disdain when the Birthday Girl decided to stand up on the chair to dance to Dean Martin. Fabulous!

Thank you to everyone who sent my little sweetpea birthday wishes, she really did have a great day. And I must also say a big thank you for all the lovely comments on the previous post too!
