gathering ideas

With the shower room work due to be completed tomorrow (all going well), we toodled off to Laura Ashley to gather samples and some inspriation for possible future projects. I love visiting LA, the staff are so enthusiastic about the products they sell. I ended up taking samples of wallper with a view to decorating Gorgeous Girls room (next year earliest), and various fabric samples. My favourite wallpaper sample had to be the bright barbie pink with gold pattern. Perfect shoe room wallpaper! Unfortunately, a shoe room will have to continue to be a dream :o)

Husband and I had a chat about the living room, and thought that not only will we paint it, but it will have one wall of wallpaper on the wall behind the sofa. This is the perfect wallpaper. Not only are the colours perfect, but the pattern has a hint of sparkle. Not full on glitter, more of a delicate frosting. We bought a sample pot of LA paint, but it wasn't right. Instead, we are going to go with, 'string' by Farrow & Ball, which we also bought a sample pot of. It doesn't show well in photos, but in real life the colour match is spot on with the wallpaper.

So as you can tell, still several projects to finish off.
The dining room. still waiting the wallpaper, tie backs and rug. We bought a mirror, which is up already. I'm excited to show you, not least because of the super-bargain price we got it for. No photos as yet, because I want to wait until the room is done. It might take a while, but it's very nearly done.

The living room. Now it needs painting and wallpapering and just a good tidy up. Then I'll take photos.
I think we'll be ordering the wallpaper for both dining and living rooms very soon.

The shower room. The Hard Work is almost complete. By close of play Wednesday it will be all done and ready for decorating. I am extrememly pleased with how it's shaping up. Once painted, and all the little details added, it's going to look really nice. I can't wait for that moment. It has only taken the chap a week or so to do, but it always feels so much longer because things are so upside down.

Once these projects are complete, that's it for this year! Our finances are done, and so is my enthusiasm. I've been quite stressed over the past week. I'll go back to painting picture frames, making things on the sewing machine, and gathering samples of various things for my decorating book. Fun, easy, and a whole lot cheaper!
