Surely not. I haven't been painting furniture again, have I??!!! Certainly have! I wasn't going to show this little makeover as I'm getting very repetitive, but I do like this style and I love to show the 'before' and 'after' piccies! Before I continue writing, I must apologise for my awful photos. Some utter clot *ahem, hanging head in shame* managed to spill water on the good camera. Basically it's ruined, so I'm having to use my old camera. It's the same make as my decent camera, but it just isn't as good. I am such a clumsy oaf :o(
Just recently I looked at the bookshelf we keep on the upstairs landing, and thought 'wow, how have I missed that?!' I checked with the husband that it wasn't an antique or anything - didn't think it was, but I knew he had bought it from an antique centre before he met me - and once I got confirmation that it wasn't, I decided it needed painting! With the husband gadding around London last night (Kensingston, the lucky thing), I thought it would be a nice surprise for him when he returns today, to find the bookshelf looking different.
Before ...
After ...
I had such a lovely time making it look pretty with books and ballet shoes, tiara and other bits. As you can tell by the 'before' photo, the bookshelf is used as a bookself/toy storage/general dumping ground. It was nice to see it with pretty displays on it. Now it's back to being bookshelf/toy storage/general dumping ground again! I'll spare you the photos of the picture frames I plan to paint next week, as it will be more of the same.
Some piccies from around the house.
Something as British as a strawberries and cream, rain on a summer day, and fish and chips by the sea ~ trifle! I love a good trifle! Gorgeous Girl and I had some of this for tea yesterday.
The blobs around the top aren't marshmallows, but cream that I piped. What can I say? My piping technique needs work!!!!Dudley enjoying himself in the sunshine earlier today.
The curtains arrived today. I don't want to show too much of them, as the room isn't finished yet. The fabric is 'Magnolia' with duck egg background. We already have this fabric with a beige background in another room, so I knew how pretty it would be. Now, I hoped they would be perfect as they were coming from Laura Ashley, and they were made to measure, but we did the order over the internet. I was a touch concerned that things might have gone wrong somewhere along the line, but I need not have worried. Not only are they perfectly perfect, but they really do look as if someone has come into our home, taken measurements, then made the curtains in situ to get them to sit precisely, rather than work from measurements sent in over the internet. I am both amazed and impressed. The quality is fantastic. It's the first time we've had made to measure curtains from LA (we've bought 'ready made' before), and I can give them a 100% recommendation.
And finally, the kind of thing my poor long suffering hubby finds when he returns home.
:o) The smiley face shows that I like the colour! This is for the shower room. It's Farrow & Ball's 'slipper satin', I think we can just take the plunge and buy a large tin of this colour. I want a F&B white, as they are so lovely and subdued. We could buy lots of tester pots of their many white paints, but at the end of the day, this is beautiful, and exactly what I was thinking of, so why waste money on more testers. How is your week going? Well, I hope.
