No, it's not really snowing here, I added it because I thought it looked nice! It's been a long week. The house has been in a state of perpetual mess, but at long last it's starting to look a bit tidier, and a lot more festive.
You've already seen the cream artificial tree in the husbands den, well now we have a few more dotted around the house.
I sent the husband out to choose a tree by himself, as I was just making things difficult. He chose a perfect tree. It has to fit in the space between the back of the sofa and in the bay window. There isn't a massive amount of space, so a tree needs to be not too bushy at the bottom, and full and lush from the centre up.
I am very pleased with the kitchen and dining room. Nothing spectacular, just lots of lights, but it makes me happy. The kitchen. Excuse the mess, I didn't have the energy to make it picture perfect ...
Just lights on top of the cupboards. It's simple but adds lots of festive feeling to the room. Vignettes are basic so I can change them easily and quickly if I feel the urge.

The other side of the kitchen looks like this ...
Standing at the back door looking into the kitchen and through to the dining room...
The curtains were slightly opened to show how close to the house my daughters' playhouse is in the garden. That too gets decorated.
You've seen most of the garden lights already, but here is how the front of the house looks now.
As you can tell, I favour white lights. The husband likes multi coloured lights, so I've added some just for him. Around the inside of the den door (so I can shut the door and not have to see them! They can't be seen from outside either!), and on the upstairs landing.
In the bedroom there is my fabulously tacky pink tinsel tree. I just love this tree.
I added to the Kitsch~ness by using flower fairy lights as well as shadeless.
I'm at the stage where I've had enough of 'big' decorating, but can't help but wonder if it's Christmassy enough. To be perfectly honest, I can't be bothered to do any more, and as I'm the one who takes it all down again, I think it can stay as it is. I'll add a few more festive ornaments during this week, but not much more. I have three things that are high on my 'To Do' list right now, finishing off our Christmas cards - I've made 8 so far. Good thing we're not sending many out this year - finishing off the wreath for the back door. I'm not making it from scratch, it's just a revamp of the one I made last year for the same place
It took minutes to make, I took a piece of wired garland and twisted it into a circle. Then I twisted pink net around, twirled around lights (leaving some spare so I could attach them around the window, and then pushed in some homemade fabric apples. This year I'm keeping it the same, but wiring in some baubles.
The third thing on my list is making a gingerbread house. This is last years effort.
I always use the same template and recipe. Both of which I'll share later on.
