Silver sparkle

For the past few years, the main colour of our Christmas decorations has been pink. It's my favourite colour. This year, the theme is 'vintage' so pink hasn't been banished, but silver seems to be coming through as the core colour.

Sometimes it might seem as if I do a lot of shopping, but that isn't really the case. I only buy what needs to be bought. I'm actually pretty frugal, and love a good bargain.
At the weekend, my little family and I needed a trip to the local DIY shop. They had their Christmas goodies out, so I took a look around. Most of it was pretty predictable and not what I was after, but then I spotted a section of baubles and pretties that had a distinct vintage air to them. I love the massive bauble! No idea where it will live, but as it had a mercurised inspired effect, I had to get it. Plus it was a total bargain, just £3. The two crackle baubles are glass, and were a couple of pounds each, and the box of chandelier pieces just £2. See? Bargain hunter. It pays to look around in shops that you wouldn't think for a second have anything you want. You just never know, and you don't have to fork out a fortune to achieve the look you are after.
They also had very pretty mercurised 'look' baubles that were made of plastic. I didn't buy any, but I was tempted. A good idea to have plastic vintage style decorations when you have a tiny person roaming the house. I just couldn't do it, and prefer to take the risk with glass and a lot of care.

The crackers I ordered on Monday arrived today. It's always - always - best to order crackers early. The nice ones sell out so quickly. I chose these because of the fan pattern, which I really like. I was very pleasantly surprised when I opened them to find they are totally glitter covered. You can't go wrong with a good dose of glitter! This photo doesn't do them justice at all, they are beautiful in real life.
That's all for today, but there is certainly more to follow!
