The remains of summer..

Earlier this eveing I went into my front garden and picked these flowers. It's safe to say that they are end of my summer flowers. I always prune my roses early, as soon as they finish flowering in June, so I get a later second (but smaller) batch of flowers. I'm planning on drying the hydrangeas.
My only regret with the passing of summer is no longer being able to cut flowers from the garden. Roses are my favourite flower, and there is nothing nicer than being able to cut them fresh almost every day during June.

I really do love this time of year. Watching the leaves starting to blush before turning completely, feeling the chill in the air, the weather turning grey and blustery. I'm not a hot weather girl, so I feel very happy at the prospect of cold weather!
I always enjoy the nights drawing in so early, and how cosy the house feels with table lamps switched on throughout. I have fairy lights up all year round, but during the summer months they rarely get switched on. Now we get to see this prettiness each evening They don't throw out much light, but that's not why I have them, they give rooms a cosy feel as well as looking pretty.

I must share this with you. As you know, we've recently painted our bathroom, and have been adding little finishing touches. We changed to plain old hook on the back of the door, to this rather fabulous sparkly vintage style one.. It came from [Graham & Green], a favourite place to shop. (The fluffy pink things hanging from the hook are the matching dressing gowns for me and my little girl!) I know that many of you like the vintage style look, so thought you might like to see it.

Have a happy week :o)
