projects in waiting

Now all of my 'big painting projects' have been completed, I can go back to doing smaller craft ideas. I often have a little ongoing stash of things to work on, do you? I like having crafty things waiting for me to work on them, rather than thinking 'blimey, I haven't done this or that', I look on it as something to enjoy and look forward to working on. I call them Projects in Waiting because that's what they are, some waiting to be started, others waiting to be finished.

This afternoon I grabbed my camera and took a few photos of my current Projects in Waiting.

I have mentioned before that I [dry my own roses]. I have some roses drying in the airing cupboard, and added another bunch today. I am planning on using these on the Christmas tree this year.
A goose egg waiting to be decorated. My sister in law had some goose eggs when we visited last week. I took one away with me, and removed the egg from the centre carefully. I'm waiting for some crafty bits to arrive, and when they do this is where they are destined to end up. I have three decorated goose eggs in the garage that I use each year on the Easter Tree in the garden. I will redecorate those at the same time, then put them back, ready for next year. I wouldn't normally be thinking about Easter at this time of year, it's only because I had the egg and couldn't bear to just crack it open and throw away the shell.

Gold velvet roses. I've made three, but in the clear plastic bags I have the workings of another three that need putting together. These have been made to use as Christmas decorations for the tree. I planned to make white roses too. I really need to get a move on and complete these.

A tapestry. I never rush sewing tapestries. I love having one stashed away in a bag to pick up and work on when the mood takes me. This one was started last Autumn. When I've finished it I will turn it into a cushion, but I plan to leave it on a sunny windowsill for a few weeks to fade the colours a bit. One of my favourite crafty authors is Tone Finnanger. Her 'sew' range of books are absolutely wonderful, packed full of beautiful treats and ideas to browse, and her newest book 'sew sunny homestyle' is gorgeous. Even if you hate sewing or don't sew, her books are lovely to look through. You can't help but be inspired. Her choice of fabrics and styles are perfection in my eyes. On my 'want to make something like this' is this soap cake. I'm already plotting on how I can make it 'my way', which is to say 'a quicker and easier way'! This may or may not end up being a project. I bought a set of four sparkly napkin rings today. I'm currently intending to use them as napkin rings as they are so pretty and would look gorgeous on the table, but, I might be tempted to use them in some other project. I'm undecided at the moment, but I love them so thought I'd share a photo. And finally, nothing at all to do with anything crafty, but I wanted to share the beautiful flowers that I bought today. I very rarely buy carnations for no other reason than I find them a bit clumsy to arrange in vases. However, packed in tightly together they look like a froth of lace.

I had to buy these ones today, I've never seen them in this colour. It's like aged newspaper, they look like vintage flowers from a faded photograph. With they pale pink roses they are simply beautiful.
