Take the little ballet dancer cake decorations that I bought last month for instance. I wanted to cover them with glitter and set aside, but knew it would be fiddly so put it off. Not anymore, here they are now..
So pretty. I even painted over the hair colour. I have nothing against red hair, but the ladies in this house are brunette, so I felt the dancers should match us! More colourful than how they looked before..
So nice to know that when I want to use them they are all ready glittery and ready to go.We are in the middle of redecorating a couple of rooms. The main bedroom has been done, and the kitchen is almost complete, we'll make a start on the main bathroom next month. There is a little bit more left to do in the kitchen, once it's complete I'll show photos here. I have been determined to give it a shabby chic feeling.
Anyway, knowing that the walls would soon be ready for new pictures to go up, I decided to paint and distress a frame, ready for my pink 'keep calm and carry on' poster. I found some dark brown base paint in the garage and decided to spray that on first as the frame I'd bought was a honey pine colour. I thought a darker colour would look better showing through. I love spray painting! Messy, fun and quick.
I've had this delicious little mirror for a long, long, time.
I thought it was time for a change, and that too got a bit of a revamp! Out came my trusty cream coloured paint, and I got busy painting.
On to the results!
The frame, painted and slightly bashed up, and the poster cut down to fit. I have a particular wall I want this to go on, it's quite narrow, which is why I was happy to trim the poster down down and use a smaller frame. I'm really pleased I took the time to give it a dark undercoat first, it made all the difference.
The little mirror looking very distressed, but in a good way!
I feel so glad that I've got all of these little things done now. I've had them on my 'to do' list for several weeks, it's nice to get them out of the way.
